“Fall In… Art and Sol” is an October 2013 celebration of art, culture and science throughout Michigan’s Great Lakes Bay Region of Bay, Isabella, Midland and Saginaw counties featuring the world’s first solar art exhibition.
Solar art is any work of art that incorporates solar technology to harness the power of the sun to affect its design.
This open call for proposals provided emerging artists or artist groups the opportunity to work with new solar technologies and to exhibit original public art installations. There is no entry fee, nor are there geographical or age limitations for artist or artist groups or restrictions on the number of proposals that can be submitted.
Honoraria: The top three selected proposals will be exhibited at an outdoor, public Great Lakes Bay, Michigan location and will receive an honorarium in the amount of $3,000 for the leading selection, $2,500 for the second place selection or $2,000 for the third place selection. Ten additional proposals will be selected to exhibit at an outdoor, public Great Lakes Bay, Michigan location and will receive an honorarium of $1,500 each. All selected artists or artist groups will have the opportunity to receive one 50 watt, 18 volt solar panel and one charge controllerto complete their proposals, if they are needed for the design. The proposals of artists or artist-groups that are not chosen by the jury will be considered for inclusion in a proposal exhibition on this website.
