ARTS DISTRICT Liberty Station (CA), International Request for Proposals: Installations at the Station 2018

NTC Foundation, ARTS DISTRICT Liberty Station (CA), International Request for Proposals:  Installations at the Station 2018

Deadline: December 15th, 2017

Installations at the Station: Art Encounters at ARTS DISTRICT Liberty Station is a new temporary art in public spaces program of the NTC Foundation at the former Naval Training Center San Diego. Installations at the Station will fund the commissioning and installation of significant and engaging temporary visual art by artists to attract visitors, create a sense of place and provide insight into the historical and cultural essence of the San Diego-Baja border region.

The Program will encourage artists to use new disciplines and technology reflective of the region, and focus on contemporary issues to encourage artists to create pieces that encourage audience participation. Administered by NTC Foundation’s Art in Public Places Committee, proposals contracted between $3,500 – $12,000 will be awarded with a goal of up to 5 projects selected per year, starting in early 2018. The works can be a short term installation or be on display for several years.
Funded activities could include- but are not limited to – outdoor sculpture, lighting projects, digital art, video art, public events or auditory artworks.
Artists selected are expected to design, fabricate, transport and install the artwork.
