For writers, visual artists, performance artists, musicians and composers

Brush Creek Foundation for The Arts is a non-profit organization offering time and space for artistic exploration to visual artists, writers, musicians and composers from all backgrounds, level of expertise, media and genres. Proposals for self-directed, creative residencies must be compatible with available working studio spaces, facilities, and resources. Artistic merit and promise are the basis for selections. Both established and emerging artists are encouraged to apply. Any person over the age of 18 is eligible. English language skills are required.

Residencies are three weeks in length. This depends on availability and applicant’s ranking in the jury process. The Winter/Spring artist retreats run from January – May.

Visual Artists (including but not limited to drawing, painting, printmaking, photography, installation, new media and video) shall provide 10 – 20 images OR a short video. Language Arts (including fiction, non-fiction, poetry, screenplay or script writing, and scientific writing) shall include no more than 20 pages of material. Musicians and composers provide two scores and two music files for listening. Do NOT include your name or website on any work samples. Label with titles only.

A jury of professionals from the arts and humanities rank residents based on submitted work samples in a competitive selection process for our artist residency programs. Director assigns awards based on juror ranking and submitted proposal.

During their time, residents will be provided a single room with private bath, individual studio space and meals. Breakfast fare is provided for self-service,while lunch and dinner are shared family style in the common area each night.

Residents are responsible for all necessary supplies for their work and transportation costs. A shuttle service is provided both to and from the ranch and Laramie Regional Airport.

Located on 30,000 acres of scenic splendor at the base of the Medicine Bow National Forest outside of Saratoga, Wyoming, the camp is situated right next to Brush Creek, in between the Sierra Madre and Snowy Mountain ranges.
