Carbondale Clay Center (CO), National Call for Ceramic Artists: “Out of the Mold” Carbondale Clay National XIII

Carbondale Clay Center (CO), National Call for Ceramic Artists: “Out of the Mold” Carbondale Clay National XIII

Deadline: May 18th, 2018, 5:00pm MST

“Out of the Mold” Carbondale Clay National XIII is a national juried and invitational exhibition of ceramic art held annually at the Carbondale Clay Center Gallery in Carbondale, CO. It is open to ceramic artists throughout the United States.

Awards:
Best in Show: $500
Staff Selection: $250
Local’s Favorite: $100

“The concept of this juried exhibition is to investigate what is happening currently in ceramic art. The title suggests physical and metaphorical criteria. Slip casting, press molding, or sprigging; plaster molds, bisque molds, or just clay pressed onto an object. These are all techniques requiring molds. How are artists finding new ideas and ways of working through the use of molds? Pottery, sculpture, wall tile, or mix media work will be considered. We hope this call for work generates some ideas and hard work: using molds can be challenging. By opening the exhibit to mixed media, we might see some very creative responses to our curiosity about what can come out of a mold. The gallery space will put limits on what is accepted because we are jurying an exhibition, not a list of objects. The criteria for selection is simply the best work submitted that has a connection to the title of the exhibition.” ~Andrea and John Gill

Jurors: Andrea Gill is a retired Professor of Ceramic Art at The New York State College of Ceramics at Alfred University.  John Gill is a Professor of Ceramic Art at The New York State College of Ceramics at Alfred University.
