International Call for Entries: 7th Annual Lumen Prize for Digital Art

International Call for Entries: 7th Annual Lumen Prize for Digital Art

Deadline: June 1st, 2018

Entries Open March 15th, 2018

The Lumen Prize for Digital Art celebrates the very best art created with technology through a global competition, exhibitions and events worldwide. The competition offers a prize fund of $11,000, plus inclusion in Lumen’s annual program of exhibitions and events which take place globally for shortlisted and winning artists. A not-for-profit based in Wales, UK, Lumen’s annual juried competition draws entries from artists globally and has given away more than US$50,000 in prize money since its launch in 2012.

Once an artist is selected for Lumen’s longlist or becomes a finalist or prizewinner, he or she becomes part of the Lumen family and eligible for a range of opportunities from that year forward. For example, a number of Lumen Prize artists from the early years of the competition have now seen their work collected by museums. Others have benefited from commission and exhibition opportunities through the Lumen partner network.

The 2018 prizes are:
• Gold Award ($4000)
• Moving Image ($1000)
• Still Image ($1000)
• AR/VR ($1000)
• 3D/Interactive ($1000)
• Founder’s Award ($1000)
• Meural Student Prize ($500)
• People’s Choice Award ($500)
•The BCS Artificial Intelligence Award ($1000)

What kind of art is eligible? All art is eligible as long as it engages with technology in some form. If you have any questions regarding whether your work suits the Lumen Prize, please email

The judging of the Lumen Prize is done in two stages. The longlist is determined by our international selection committee of curators, artists and academics. This longlist is then reviewed by the judging panel, who select the finalists and winners.

Admin fee: US$47.50 for two works and US$23.75 for each additional work. A not-for-profit organization, Lumen receives no outside funding. All entry fees go directly towards the prizes and our global events. The Meural Student Award is free to enter.
