International Call for Entries: FotoFilmic/SOLO Exhibition Award (CAN)

Deadline: August 31st, 2017

FotoFilmic was founded in Vancouver, BC, Canada as a global film photography competition and publication & curation platform dedicated to emerging and unknown photo talents attached to film and analogue practices worldwide.

From their call: Now over 5 years into existence, and after crafting numerous original touring workshops & international presentation programs solely focused on rethinking and fostering film-based and analogue photographic practices in today’s digital driven art world, FotoFilmic is proud to take its mandated vision one big step further and announce this summer the exciting launch of its new SOLO Exhibition Call & Award!

FotoFilmic//SOLO represents a unique professional publication  and exhibition opportunity in the field of contemporary photography designed to draw strong attention to remarkable practices while helping raise the profile of a few select burgeoning & mid’ career photographers in today’s ultra competitive art industry. Read on below to learn more about how FotoFilmic//SOLO Awards can grab hold of the solid international artistic foothold your photography needs to break new recognition grounds: from prestigious curating and jurying to reference printed and online publications, advanced workshop mentoring as well as optional FotoFilmic representation, FotoFilmic//SOLO is your chance to shine a direct light into the medium’s public eye!

As Juror and chief curator, Todd Hido will be on the lookout for applications demonstrating refined aestheticism and a strong critical or conceptual component that can feel organic to the work. Longer themed series developed over time are recommended over multiple single images different in intent or content.

The first SOLO Exhibition Winner will be awarded a 2-month one-person show this fall at the FotoFilmic//PULP Gallery located in Vancouver, BC, Canada at the heart of Bowen Island’s historical Snug Cove Marina, with a formal opening on Saturday, October 14, 2017 coinciding with Todd Hido’s Weekend Master Workshop.

Application fee: $75.
