Job: Mural Assistant for Oakland Super Heroes Mural Project (CA)

Deadline to apply: September 4th, 2015

Attitudinal Healing Connection (AHC), a non-profit organization in West Oakland is looking for Bay Area artists to help paint the third mural in the ongoing Oakland Super Heroes mural project. This is a series of six large-scale murals to be painted underneath 580 in the Hoover Corridor Neighborhood located in West Oakland. Using the theme of the self as super hero, the murals are designed by local grade school students. These projects uplift and positively transform the neighborhood while telling the stories of the youth who are growing up here.

The second mural was completed last year and AHC is searching for local artists to assist in the painting of the third mural in September/October. These murals serve as a gateway to West and Downtown Oakland and are integral to how our community is perceived. This is a call for local artists interested in community based public art projects that contribute to revitalizing the Hoover District in West Oakland.

Qualifications: – Be over 18 years of age.  – Have previous mural painting experience.  – MUST CARE! Be passionate about social justice & want to create positive change in the community.  – Experience working with youth is a plus.

Compensation: $100-$125/day (depending on experience)

Estimated Dates of Project: September 21st thru October 30th**

**Selected artists will be expected to work 3-5 days/week for roughly one month.
