MFA Art Practice at the School of Visual Arts (NY), Call for Applicants: Art Practice Artist-in-Residence, with stipend

The MFA Art Practice at the School of Visual Arts invites emerging and mid-career artists working in all disciplines to apply for the inaugural Art Practice Artist -in- Residence program. Selected candidates will receive a studio, access to the facilities, including the Metal Shop, Wood Shop, Digital Sculpture Center, Digital Editing Lab, Fibers Lab, Ceramics Lab and Nature and Technology Lab, and a $2500 stipend.

Responsibilities:
-Deliver an artist talk at the School of Visual Arts
-Participate in weekly group critiques of Art Practice graduate students’ work
-Conceive of and carry out a project with first-year MFA candidates in the program, which will culminate in a public presentation of the work
-Dedicate at least 20 hours per week to work within their Art Practice studio and/or the related facilities

Qualifications:
-An MFA or equivalent
-A significant exhibition record
-Proven ability to execute ideas to completion
-Experience in teaching or leading workshops is highly desirable

Additional Information:
-The selected Artist-in-Residence will receive a stipend of $2500.00 to be paid over the course of the residency.
-Artists with a collaborative history may apply for the residency as a team, with the understanding that they would share a studio and the total stipend would be divided among them.
-Travel and housing costs are the responsibility of the artist.
-Currently, the residency is only open to artists with legal status to work in the United States.
-Alumni from the SVA MFA Art Practice program are ineligible to apply.
