From their call: Soho Photo Gallery is pleased to announce its 24th National Competition. The gallery, located in lower Manhattan, is New York City’s longest running co-operative photography gallery. All photo-based works are eligible, with no limitation as to subject matter or technique. All selected photographs will be exhibited at the gallery from July 2nd – 27th, 2019.

The juror, Julie Grahame, will choose approximately 40 photographs for the exhibition. Cash prizes for first, second and third place winners will be awarded and up to four Honorable Mentions will be given as well. The photographers chosen, as well as the award winners, will be notified by email on or about May 15th. The juror’s selection will also be posted on the Soho Photo website.

Juror: Julie Grahame is the publisher of, a full-screen photography magazine, and the associated aCurator blog, one of the ten best photo sites named by the British Journal of Photography and one of’s top 20. She is vice president of the American Photography Archives Group (APAG) and a contributing writer for PDN’s Emerging Photographer and EDU magazines.

Entry fees: 1-7 images: US$50.00
8-15 images: US$75.00

Awards: The awards include cash prizes from Soho Photo Gallery for 1st ($300, 2nd ($200), and 3rd place ($100). There will also be a minimum of two Honorable Mentions, and special gifts from our sponsor. The sponsor for this year’s Competition is Archival Methods, Inc

About: Soho Photo Gallery is the oldest and largest artist-run photography gallery in New York City. It was established in 1971 by a group of photojournalists and avant-garde photographers who were seeking an alternative gallery space in which to exhibit their work.
