St. Louis Artists’ Guild (MO), Call for Entries: State of Our Shared Land

St. Louis Artists’ Guild (MO), Call for Entries: State of Our Shared Land

Deadline: August 24th, 2018, 11:59pm CST

From their call: For this exhibition the St. Louis Artists’ Guild is looking for works of art that examine the state of our shared environment. The word politics is derived from the Latin words polites “citizen” and polis “city.” Politics as a term used in everyday life first appeared in the 15th century and referred to the state and its administration of public life. As a society how are we linked together through the decisions of our leaders? What is your reaction to the shifting tectonic plates of today’s political landscape? Propaganda is part of our political dialogue. Is fake news the same? Do you trust the news you receive? How are you or someone you know personally impacted by the policies and actions of government today? We are looking for all media in this exhibition including but not limited to painting, drawing, photography, sculpture, video, and performance art.

Commissions: Sales are encouraged. The St. Louis Artists’ Guild retains a 35% commission on all works sold from this exhibition.

Awards Cash prizes totaling $1000 will be awarded by the juror. 1st Place: $500; 2nd Place: $250; 3rd Place: $150; Honorable Mention: $50; Honorable Mention: $50.

Juror:  Wassan Al-Khudairi, Chief Curator Contemporary Art Museum, St. Louis
