University of Nevada, Las Vegas (UNLV), Call for Applicants: Spring 2018 Artist in Residence Program, with honorarium

The Department of Art at the University of Nevada Las Vegas invites applications for its Spring Artist in Residence Program. Two eight-week terms are available: January 16th to March 16th (session 1) and March 19th to May 11th (session 2).
The successful candidates will remain in residence throughout their sessions. Responsibilities for each term include teaching one undergraduate and one graduate course; participation in group critiques, and performing individual studio visits. We welcome applicants whose practices and teaching proposals complement our strong offerings in studio arts and art history.
Studio space, as well as a $10,000 USD honorarium, will be provided for each position. Travel to and from Las Vegas, lodging, and other expenses are not included, and will be the responsibility of the successful applicant. Payment is made upon completion of services.
With over 29,000 students and 14 colleges and professional schools, the University of Nevada Las Vegas is the premier research institution in this dynamic metropolitan area and stunning desert region. The UNLV Art Department offers BA, BFA and MFA degrees in Sculpture, Photography, Printmaking and Painting/Drawing, the BA degree in Art History, and a BS in Graphic Design & Media. The department serves over 600 undergraduate majors, as well as 12 graduate students in our selective MFA program. Visiting artists in the past several years have included Letha Wilson, Carter Mull, Lucky DeBellevue, Miljohn Ruperto, Deborah Aschheim, and David Gilbert.
Applicants should be actively engaged in contemporary artistic practice, and show evidence of a continuing national or international exhibition record. Applications from practitioners of studio disciplines. Writers, critics, and art historians are also encouraged to apply. MA, MFA, PhD or equivalent terminal degree required.

–Artist portfolio: ten images from the recent works described with size and medium; art historians and writers: submit 10–15 pages writing sample
–Course descriptions for undergraduate (instructional) and graduate (critique-seminar) classes, and
–List of three references with contact information.

Review of applications will begin October 16th, 2016. Complete applications submitted by this date will receive full consideration. Notifications for successful applicants will be made on or around November 3rd, 2017.
