Woodbury Art Museum (UT), Call for National Western Region Artists: Art of OUR CENTURY 2017- Movement

Deadline: April 25th, 2017 

Woodbury Art Museum announces their call for Art of OUR CENTURY 2017, open to contemporary artists in the Western Region of the United States. The theme is Movement.

From their call: Movement – kinesis is a compound term assigned to words connoting action: physical, sensory, or conceptual. The 2017 Art of OUR CENTURY show calls for art relating to the idea of movement in all forms. Art Movements, Kinetic or Social Sculpture, Video, physical fluidity, interactive design, and emotional instigators are just some examples of relevant entries. Whether an agitation, a long journey, or a gentle progression, all work that “moves” is desirable.  

Open to works created within the last year.

2017 Juror: Nick Mendoza. Mendoza is a Utah based graphic designer, artist, and educator. His work contributes to dialogue surrounding social issues like immigration, including large scale prints and works on paper exploring relationships between Mexico and the United States.

Awards: $500 Best in Show Award

All standard media may be entered. Works may not exceed 7 feet tall by 12 feet wide. 3D objects must be stable and capable of supporting themselves without excessive risk and may not be of excessive weight. Works that may constitute a public safety, health or environmental hazard will not be considered. This does not include the use of standard artist media. Entries must be representative of this year’s theme: “Movement.”
